Feature and Follow #5

I always (or almost always) check my books out from the library. Not only does it support my profession as a librarian, but it also saves me A LOT of money! However, if there is a book that I really enjoy and that I think I will reread then I will buy it. My e-books usually just sit on their digital bookshelf until I’m ready to pick them up again. My hard copy books I try to share as much as possible. The books that I just decide are taking up room on my shelf because I will never touch them again get sold to Half-Price Books or donated to the library. I guess there are lots of options as to what we can do with our books, but for me it depends on how much I liked the book where it will ultimately end up.

Feature and Follow: Photobomb a picture with your favorite book.

So…this isn’t really my favorite book, but it is my current read!  The book in the picture is Cinder by Marissa Meyer (the first book in the Lunar Chronicles) and the cute sleeping baby is my 5-month-old daughter. Stay posted for a review of Cinder, hopefully, I can get one up in the next week or so. I can’t wait to see all of your fun pictures this week! Leave me a comment and I will come by and check yours out!

Q: Happy Mother’s Day! Who is your favorite mom from fiction?

Okay, so I couldn’t pick just one! I love Mrs. Weasley (Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling), Mrs. Morgan (Gallagher Girl series by Ally Carter), and Mrs. Garrett (My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick). These are just three of my favorite books/series in general. I feel like I put them on every list and if you haven’t read them all then you definitely should!

Q: Give us a sneak! What are you reading? Tell us about a fun or fail scene in your current read.

I am currently reading Delirium by Lauren Oliver (which so far is an awesome book if you have not read it)!  There is a moment when Lena and Alex sneak into “the wilds” and I loved it. The setting of the wilds was so carefree and romantic! When Alex started quoting I Carry Your Heart by E.E. Cummings and How Do I Love Thee? by Elizabeth Barrett Browning I was just in love! And the fact that poetry was forbidden made it even better. Then you add the stars they were lying under and you have a total swoon worthy moment. I know reading this makes it sound totally cheesy, but it fits the book and the characters perfectly!

Have you read Delirium? What did you think? Did you read the whole series? Did you love it? If so, would recommend it to others?  Post your thoughts and comments below, but NO spoilers please! 🙂

Oh, and one more thing…feel free to follow me through your RSS feed or on Twitter! Happy Reading!

Here are some books that I recently added to my “to-be-read” list!

1. Prisoner B-3087 by Alan Gratz

Prisoner B-3087 Book Cover

I found this book on the NEW YA display at my local library. I am a fan of all stories related to World War II and/or the Holocaust. When I read the book jacket for this novel I knew it was a must read! It is based on the real story of prisoner B-3087, however, some characters and events were added to the story. I can’t wait to get to this book!

2. Double Digit by Annabel Monaghan

Double Digit Book Cover

Okay, so this book isn’t even out yet, but I was so, so excited when I saw it on Goodreads! I read A Girl Named Digit by Annabel Monaghan last year and I LOVED it. It was one of the books where I actually felt kind of sad when it was over. Well, I didn’t know there was going to be a sequel so when I saw this I was thrilled!

3. The Lions of Little Rock by Kristin Levine

The Lions of Little Rock Book Cover

This book is on the Texas Lone Star list this year. As I was browsing the titles on the list this one really caught my eye. I honestly don’t know much about this book, but I’m still ready to sit down and read this own based on the summary alone.

4. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

Anna and the French Kiss Book Cover

Anna and the French Kiss is a book I was finally convinced to add to my TBR list after I saw it on many, many blogs. The title sounds a little cheesy and the cover looks really cheesy so  I have my doubts. However, I have heard nothing bad about this book. Actually, quite the opposite…every one seems to love it and because of the rave reviews I feel that I have to give this book a chance.

5. The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen

The Truth About Forever Book Cover

I am currently reading (actually listening to) my first Sarah Dessen book and I really, really like it. Dessen’s characters are so easy to relate to and they are just fun. Since I am enjoying it so much I looked some of her other titles up on Goodreads and this is one that caught my eye. Hopefully, it will be as good as Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen which I am currently reading.
